Our Model for Household Faithfulness
(How We Believe Christian Families Should Be Ordered)
We believe God normally advances His kingdom through ordered, faithful households that are rooted in a local church, shaped by Scripture, and handed down generation to generation. The home is the primary place where worship is learned, character is forged, and disciples are formed, so we do not treat it as a side project.
This framework describes how we call families at Gracepointe to live under Christ's lordship.
1. Holy Defiance
Faithful households do not drift with the age. They stand, gladly and stubbornly, under the rule of Christ.
- •Train the Body – We pursue physical discipline, sobriety of mind, diligence, and self-control so that our bodies serve Christ instead of enslaving us.
- •Resist the Lies – We measure every message, media, education, politics, influencers, against the Word of God and reject anything that contradicts His truth.
- •Build the Household Economy – We treat work, money, and skills as tools for provision, generosity, and dominion, not slavery to debt, comfort, or consumption.
- •Live with Conviction – We make clear, costly, biblical decisions even when they are unpopular, trusting Christ rather than cultural approval.
2. Patriarchal Leadership
God calls husbands and fathers to gladly bear responsibility for the spiritual, emotional, and material well-being of their households.
- •Lead with Authority – Men lead as those under authority themselves, decisively, humbly, and accountably before God and His church.
- •Love with Sacrifice – Headship looks like a cross, not a crown. Fathers and husbands go first in repentance, service, protection, and costly love.
- •Disciple the Household – Men take initiative in Scripture, prayer, catechism, and worship in the home, ensuring their families are shepherded, not outsourced.
- •Guard the Covenant – We protect marriage vows, guard against false teaching and hidden sin, and fight for generational faithfulness.
3. Matriarchal Stewardship
Godly women are central to the strength, beauty, and fruitfulness of the home.
- •Nurture the Family – Wives and mothers cultivate warmth, care, and encouragement, reflecting the kindness of Christ in daily life.
- •Submit in Strength – Biblical submission is glad, intelligent cooperation with a husband's Christlike leadership, an act of courage, not weakness.
- •Cultivate Beauty, Order, & Hospitality – The Christian home is ordered, welcoming, and life-giving; a place where guests and children taste the goodness of God.
- •Raise the Next Generation – Mothers and spiritual mothers labor to form children who love Christ, honor authority, and are prepared to stand firm in a crooked age.
4. Christian Counterculture
Households are called to build a visible way of life that displays the goodness of Christ to our children, our church, and our city.
- •Feast in Gratitude – We practice thankful, shared meals and joyful celebration, confessing that every good gift comes from the Lord.
- •Teach with Wisdom – Parents take responsibility for the moral and intellectual formation of their children, saturating life with Scripture and sound doctrine.
- •Preserve Tradition – We remember and rehearse the works of God, the historic faith, and our family and church stories, rejecting rootless, disposable living.
- •Create with Beauty – We fill our homes and work with songs, art, words, and craftsmanship that honor Christ and push back against ugliness and nihilism.
Our Confessional Foundation
Gracepointe Church is anchored in the 1689 London Baptist Confession, which provides a comprehensive summary of our doctrinal convictions. This historic confession, alongside the ancient creeds of the church, guides our teaching, shapes our worship, and informs our mission.
We believe that confessional theology provides clarity, accountability, and continuity with the historic Christian faith while grounding us in biblical truth.
